Mount Diablo's history as a state park started 100 years ago today when "...an act providing for the creation and management of the Mount Diablo Park..." was introduced in the state legislature.
For the rest of 2021 we invite everyone to join in the celebration of the park's first 100 years. In the months to come we will follow the story of how, later in 1921, Mount Diablo became a park even before the State Park system existed and look at what makes this place so special. Watch here for more information on activities to mark our centennial year.
Car crashes are a leading cause of death for 15-19 year olds. In fact, from 1999 to 2018, 31% of all teen deaths in the United States were a result of a motor vehicle crash. That’s more than twice as many deaths as the next leading cause, homicide by firearm, which accounted for 13% of teen deaths.
The good news? We can change these numbers together. Saving lives starts at home by practicing safe driving behavior every time you get behind the wheel and showing teens and even young children what it means to make safe choices.
Join us today at 2pm for our first LIVE training session for the Teen Safe Driving Campaigns. We'll get you started on theroadmap to saving lives through promoting safe driving. It's not too late to sign up! Contact us or visit our website to enroll.
Parents – While you may never be completely ready to give your teen the car keys, it’s important that they are prepared to make safe choices while behind the wheel. Learn more at NHTSA.gov/teendriving.
